If it wasn’t for the need to keep the continuity of episodes we are covering up, I’d have skipped posting this. We had a bunch of audio problems and then further problems with the recordings. What we have left is the best I could put together. I’ve heard worse, but feel free to give it pass if it’s too annoying.
Anyway, we watched a bunch of new stuff like Vatican Miracle Examiners, Made in Abyss and Welcome to the Ballroom.
The moment we’ve all been waiting for has arrived. The Tournament of Power begins! Way back at the start of February, the Zen-Oh’s decided to have this tournament, and 20 episodes later the first punches are thrown. Meanwhile, Rage of Bahamut Virgin Soul reaches its mid-point as an ancient weapon is unleashed on the Gods. Tiger Mask W takes a victory lap and makes a back door pilot for Masked Tiger Springer. And we discuss the origins of folktales with this week’s Goma-chan.
Will it be third time lucky for a Gantz adaptation? We find out as we watch 2016’s GANTZ:O. Adapting the “Nurarihyon Alien Mission” arc into a one-off (?) CG movie, can they stay true to the heart of the comic, while making it accessible? Or will this miss the nihilistic magic of manga once again?
On this week’s Let’s Go! we take a walk in the rain with Goma-chan. We meet 70 characters who we hope will all eventually get names in Dragon Ball Super. The gang break out of jail in Rage of Bahamut. Tiger Mask W reaches a climax and we say farewell to The Laughing Salesman and the hapless invaders from Makeruna!! Aku no Gundan.
We lied, it’s not Gantz:O (that’s next week). Instead it’s two fools passing summary judgement on every anime they can find with a July start date. With little more than promo art, staff lists and a trailer or two to go on. It’s the return of the Dynamite In The Brain season preview~!
This week, Brian, Dwayne and Niall take a trip to the zoo with 100% Teacher Pascal, make deals with Goma-chan, go for a walk with Chipmunk’s Dad, become grandfathers with the Laughing Salesman, see quadruple with Tiger Mask and remember just how awful a person Frieza is. Plus, sports day is over in My Hero Academia and Nina & Jeanne make a break for it in Rage of Bahamut.
Today, we look at the Shonen Jump anime that led us from the 20th Century into the 21st Century. Then we decide which of them are famous. Helping us in that task are Niall and Dwayne from Secret of the Sailor Madness and Elliot from the UK Anime Network podcast.
An episode full of Brian goofing up! Wrong episodes watched, correct episodes we watched but Brian stormed straight past without reviewing, headphone problems, and more! In the shows we actually watched: Kanemori Steve is once again victim of the whims of 100% Teacher Pascal. The next arc starts before the last one has ended in My Hero Academia. Goku & Frieza get ready to team up. And most importantly of all, Fishing Cat is found.
Cast in name of Pod. Ye guilty. Guilty of keeping our promises, that is! As we discussed way back in Episode 145, we are back 3 years later to review Season 2 of Big O! Dwayne and Niall are back and we’ve got an Elliot Page here too. What’s changed in Paradigm City over those 3 years? Can we make sense of the ending? Will Brian somehow end up discussing Heybot? All these questions and more are answered on this week’s Dynamite In The Brain.
Goku goes to Hell to to find the new 10th member of the team, Midoriya destroys his fingers to bring Shoto out of his shell, Favaro catches Kaisar up with what he’s been up to, Moguro goes on bathhouse crawl, Chidori takes on a master swordsman, and 100% Pascal does a Drifting Classroom homage. All this and a little bit more on this week’s Let’s Go!
