Episode 118 – Leeds Film Anime Day

LEEDS

Once again, Anthony, Brian and Greg headed to Leeds Film’s Fanomenom Anime Day and saw 6 animated films in 10 hours. Garden of Words, HAL, Patema Inverted, Steins;Gate, Evangelion 3.0 and Akira were on the bill and you will hear what we thought about them on this podcast.

PLUS: Anthony and Greg went to the Day of the Dead so they will also tell you about a whole pile of horror movies too. Brian kills off a regular feature and Licensed by Royalty is the Weekly Retro Recap.

Episode 106 – Ayacon Review

ditb106

We are back with a guest filled review of Ayacon 2013. The final Ayacon ever. Never to return. Dead. Kaput. Gone. Joining us to put the convention in a sack and leave it by the side of the motorway are Leon Everett, Greg Driver, Gary Hedges, Lewis Smith and DJ Snap. Did I miss anyone?

Plus, the UK anime releases and some WATCHUWATCH. No Retro Weekly Recap though as we had too much to get through.

Episode 105 – Panel Game 2

ditb105

A couple of days late due to power cut and an anime convention, but it is now here, another all game episode of DITB.

Anthony and Greg take on the transatlantic titans of Bradley C Meek and Aaron Long.

Featuring the following games:

  • Lost In Translation
  • Vic or Trick?
  • I Packed My Con Bag
  • Once Upon A Time In Fictional History
  • If Paul Rudd Was Anime
  • When Did People Give A Hoot About?

Episode 100 – Panel Show

ditb100

Niall Flanagan and Dwayne Moloney from Secret of the Sailor Madness take on Anthony and Greg Driver in an ALL-GAME episode of DITB.

  • Guess The Cross Over
  • I Can’t Believe My Sister Is A Round In A Stupid Podcast Quiz
  • The Mystery Voice
  • I Packed My Con Bag
  • pSports
  • When Did People Give A Hoot About?

All these games will be played in this landmark episode of DITB.

Episode 96 – Akira

akiraBD

A week late, but here is last week’s episode of DITB. Sort of. You see, Brian accidentally deleted the original recording so we tried to recreate it two weeks after the initial recording.

Just as then, we are joined by Greg Driver. The Weekly Retro Recap is still R.O.D. TV. And once again we play a round of Biker Trove.

So enjoy this dramatic reconstruction of a lost DITB episode.

Episode 88 – Devilman

devilman

Greg Driver joins us today to talk the 1987 & 1990 Devilman OAVs. Underground discos, spurned bird women and Stonehenge sending a message to the stars. We try to make sense of a great OAV series that unfortunately fizzled out before it really had a chance to get going. And throughout the episode Brian fails to keep a handle on what Miki Makimura’s name actually is (Maki? Miki? Maku?)

Plus, the UK anime releases, WATCHUWATCH, Dear Boys enters it’s first week in the Weekly Retro Recap and we round off with a game of THE CUTS ARE RIGHT!

Episode 82 – Top Robots

ditb082

Greg Driver & Gary Hedges join us again, this time run down our favourite robots from anime and manga. And one thing that isn’t either. And one robot that’s technically a cyborg, despite the only rule being no cyborgs.

WARNING: this episode contains a DBZ discussion that may have you shouting at your generic mp3 playing devices. All I will say is stick with it.

Plus, Tomorrow’s Nadja is once again our WEEKLY RETRO RECAP. Will it be the first show to go beyond two episodes? Download and find out!

Episode 81 – Cyber City Oedo 808

ditb081

Everyone guests on this episode of Dynamite In The Brain. Well not quite everyone, but we do have Gary Hedges, Greg Driver and Niall Flanagan on board to talk 1991’s CYBER CITY OEDO 808. The violence, the swearing, the vampires, the swearing, the robots, the swearing, it’s all here on another bumper episode of DITB.

As a counter point to this outpouring of 1990’s OAV excess, this week’s Weekly Retro Recap is episode 1 of TOMORROW’S NADJA, a tale of an orphan finding her way in the Europe of the early 20th century.

All this and we totally forget to mention that we’ve been at this podcast lark for TWO YEARS now.
