Aaron Long is back to help us pilot a new format, THE FAMOUS ANIME PODCAST. What does this presumptuously titled podcast involve? In it we discuss 10 of 2002’s most notable anime, and decide which of them can be considered famous in 2017. It mostly works. Though you may hear a few more Skype noises than intended.
Merry Christmas! Santa got you a podcast! Bradley Meek of the Anime Now! podcast joins Brian, Niall and Dwayne to cast an eye over a selection of Christmas anime episodes from Read Or Die, Azumanga Daioh, Polar Bear Cafe, Golgo 13 and Gintama. Scheduled guest Elliot Page was stuck on a train somewhere, as was Anthony. Different trains though.
Plus: a festive “bonus” at the end of the episode. Or the audio equivalent of a lump of coal in your stocking.
We get back in the DITB time tunnel and set the co-ordinates for 2002. Only this time Anthony has left Brian on his own as he’s too busy playing videogames to talk about this adaptation of Kiyohiko Azuma’s manga. Or a least that’s his excuse, possibly he thought AZUMANGA DAIOH was too “girly” for his tastes.
Never fear, for we have the inimitable GRACE CHAN as our co-pilot on this week’s exciting trip back to the anime of the recent past. Plus: Boy bands! Mountains! Twitter suggested topics! All this and more on Episode 70 of Dynamite In The Brain.
Here’s the comparison image we discuss on the episode:
And here’s the “In The Midnight Hour She Cried Moe, Moe, Moe” post that is mentioned.
