technovore

Debbie Crisp joins us to talk about the 2013 Direct-to-Video Iron Man animated film Rise of Technovore, from the men who brought you Shigurui and GARO.

Keeping up the theme of boring superhero anime, our Retro Weekly Recap is E’s Otherwise Episode 1 and to top things off we play a game of “Iron Man or James Bond?”.

Episode 108 – Cowboy Bebop

bebop1

And we’re back to our regular schedule.

Dwayne Maloney and Leon Everett join us to talk about the first half of the 1998 anime TV series, Cowboy Bebop. We also discuss Weekly Shonen Jump coming to the UK, interactive theatre, and drunken actors in WATCHUWATCH. Astro Boy makes its fourth appearance in Weekly Retro Recap. And we play a game of “Name That Bounty Hunter”.

All this and more on a bumper edition of Dynamite In The Brain.

Episode 106 – Ayacon Review

We are back with a guest filled review of Ayacon 2013. The final Ayacon ever. Never to return. Dead. Kaput. Gone. Joining us to put the convention in a sack and leave it by the side of the motorway are Leon Everett, Greg Driver, Gary Hedges, Lewis Smith and DJ Snap. Did I miss anyone?

Plus, the UK anime releases and some WATCHUWATCH. No Retro Weekly Recap though as we had too much to get through.

Episode 105 – Panel Game 2

ditb105

A couple of days late due to power cut and an anime convention, but it is now here, another all game episode of DITB.

Anthony and Greg take on the transatlantic titans of Bradley C Meek and Aaron Long.

Featuring the following games:

  • Lost In Translation
  • Vic or Trick?
  • I Packed My Con Bag
  • Once Upon A Time In Fictional History
  • If Paul Rudd Was Anime
  • When Did People Give A Hoot About?

Episode 103 – DieBuster

diebuster

Elliot Page from UK Anime Network and Philip from Eeeper’s Choice join Brian to discuss a show that is both an actual sequel to Gunbuster and a sort of sequel to FLCL. That show is the 2004-2006 OAV series from Gainax, Aim For The Top 2 aka Diebuster aka Gunbuster 2.

Anthony forgot when we were going to be recording this episode, and so is not on it.

That means no Weekly Retro Recap this week, but Elliot and Philip do play a game of SAME UNIVERSE, DIFFERENT STORY.

BONUS: Secret of the Sailor Madness Episode 50

Peppa Pig

Our podcast chums, Secret of the Sailor Madness made the mistake of asking for topic suggestions for their 50th episode. Brian offered some, and here we are, a podcast where Dwayne and Niall invited Brian on to talk about arguably the biggest TV cartoon of the last decade – PEPPA PIG.

This podcast is not suitable for children.

Episode 102 – Crusher Joe

crusherjoe

Aaron Long joins us to talk Crusher Joe, Kick Heart and to play a game.

This week’s Weekly Retro Recap is Astro Boy episode 2, and someone forgot to watch it.

All this and the all the regular features on another fun packed episode of Dynamite In The Brain.

NB: I believe we tease how much the AnimEigo DVD costs nowadays second hand, but never get around to mentioning the price. At the time of recording the cheapest you could find it on Amazon UK was £200!

Episode 101 – Fist Of The North Star

fist_of_the_north_star

You are already annoyed at the sound quality of Brian’s microphone.

This may be the worst sounding podcast we have put out. So, sorry in advance. Brian’s mixer decided to add a horrible hiss, which has been removed, but left him sounding like he’s been sealed in an oil drum.

Thankfully he said very little this podcast, so sit back and enjoy the dulcet tones of Anthony and our guests Dwayne Moloney and Niall Flanagan, from the Secret of the Sailor Madness podcast as they discuss the 1986 motion picture, FIST OF THE NORTH STAR.

Back to the Snowball next week, so hopefully no more problems for the foreseeable future.
